Born from our greatest breakthrough in string innovation, XS Phosphor Bronze strings have the longest life of any D’Addario acoustic guitar string. The XS coating gives our warm, balanced phosphor bronze strings maximum life, with an uncommonly smooth feel.

Made with a NY steel core, phosphor bronze wrap wire, and Fusion Twist technology, XS coated acoustic guitar strings have incomparable break strength and tuning stability, in addition to their dramatically increased lifespan. 11-52 Custom Light strings have slightly more volume and projection than Extra Light, while still being easy to play.

Product Features

  • XS Phosphor Bronze strings have the longest life of any D’Addario acoustic string, thanks to the ultra-thin XS film coating.

  • With an NY Steel core and Fusion Twist technology, XS Phosphor Bronze offers greater break strength and unmatched tuning stability—staying in tune 131% better than standard acoustic strings.

Frequently asked questions

Classical and flamenco guitars need nylon strings; acoustic guitars need steel acoustic sets (bronze or phosphor bronze); electric guitars need electric sets (nickel or steel); bass guitars, ukuleles, violins and ouds each need their own sets. If you are not sure, send us your instrument model on WhatsApp at +971 55 351 5764.

Gauge is the thickness of the strings, usually given in thousandths of an inch (for example 10-46). Lighter gauges are easier to play and bend; heavier gauges give a fuller sound and more tension.

It depends on how much you play. Change them when they sound dull, feel rough or corroded, or no longer stay in tune; players who practise daily often change strings every few weeks.
