This guitar’s concert-sized body is constructed with cutting-edge HPL (High-Pressure Laminate), a composite material that’s extraordinarily stable, resisting the temperature- and humidity-induced changes that can so often be a challenge when playing traditional wood guitars in challenging environments. The X series Koa Special Concert’s HPL body is then covered with beautiful koa-patterned HPL, granting you the best of classic Martin looks and modern guitar-building innovation. A natural birch laminate neck topped with a slab of composite richlite mirrors the new-meets-old foundation set by the body, with a fast-playing High-Performance Taper profile. And while the Martin X series Koa Special Concert’s construction diverts far from the old-school Martin course, this guitar’s compact concert-sized body delivers the same clear, balanced tone that you’d expect to find on any traditionally built small-bodied Martin.

Ideal for fingerpicking and gentle strumming

A perennial favorite of fingerpicking fanatics, Martin’s concert body size (traditionally designated with a single 0) is one of the smallest acoustics the company offers. And while its compact size makes it ideal for traveling, it’s by no means a “travel guitar” — the single-0 body shape is truly a full-fledged Martin when it comes to tone, and it’s been a staple of the company’s lineup since the late 19th century. In comparison to the bass boom of its larger-bodied siblings, Martin’s 0 models are all about tonal balance, with an equal amount of highs, lows, and mids across their entire register.

Sustainable building materials

Martin is all about sustainability. That’s why they’ve used eco-friendly materials on the X series Koa Special Concert. The warm and resonant HPL sides and back display a gorgeous figured koa pattern pattern. The bridge and fingerboard are made with FSC-certified richlite. Richlite is a composite material with sonic characteristics somewhere between rosewood and ebony. Richlite is totally unaffected by temperature and humidity change, requires very little maintenance, and feels great under your fingers.
