SSC stands for Specialized Shell Configuration. It's the culmination of more than a decade of DW Custom Shop shell technology and represents the state-of-the-art in sonic customization. So what is SSC? Put simply, it's DW's recommended shell configuration that utilizes HVLT, VLT, X, and VLX shell technologies. Of course, drummers can custom order a custom DW kit anyway they want it, but we've simplified the process by optimizing a particular type of shell for each drum size.

1. Premium Maple Shells: The drum shells are crafted from high-quality 6-ply Maple, delivering a rich and resonant tone. The SSC (Suspension System Classic) design helps isolate the shells from hardware, allowing for enhanced resonance and sustain.

2. Gold Abalone Finish: Features a stunning Gold Abalone lacquer finish, providing both a visually striking appearance and exceptional tonal characteristics. This finish enhances the warmth and projection of the drums.

3. Gold Hardware: Includes high-quality gold-plated hardware, such as lugs, tension rods, tom mounts, and bass drum spurs, which not only complements the shell’s finish but also ensures durability and performance.

4. True-Pitch Tension Rods: Patented DW True-Pitch tension rods provide precise tuning control and stability, allowing drummers to achieve optimal sound quality.

5. STM (Suspension Tom Mount): The STM system uses isolation mounts to suspend the toms, reducing contact with the drum shell and allowing for a more open and resonant sound.
