The Gibson Les Paul™ Special was designed as an enhanced version of the Les Paul Junior, featuring two P-90 pickups compared to the Junior’s single P-90 pickup for increased sonic flexibility. Additional features like fretboard binding and a mother-of-pearl headstock logo give it extra visual appeal, creating an intermediate model that sits between the fancier Les Paul Standard and the Les Paul Junior in the lineup. The Les Paul Special was first released as a single-cutaway model in 1955, but by 1958, it had transitioned to a double-cutaway body, offering improved access to the upper range of the fretboard.
A thinner SlimTaper™ neck profile and lower rhythm pickup positioning introduced in 1960 improved neck stability and playability.
Now, Epiphone proudly presents the Les Paul Special Double Cut Figured, available at Sadek Music. It retains all the features that make the Les Paul Special highly playable while elevating its visual appeal. The guitar features a double-cutaway mahogany body with a beautiful AAA figured maple veneer, and the top is bound for added elegance.
The mahogany neck has a fast-playing SlimTaper profile and is topped with a bound rosewood fretboard equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets and acrylic dot position markers. The 60s Kalamazoo-style headstock includes Grover® Rotomatic® tuners and the Epiphone logo in mother-of-pearl.
Unlike most Les Paul Specials, this model comes with a pair of Epiphone’s acclaimed ProBucker™ humbuckers — a ProBucker 2 in the neck and a slightly hotter ProBucker 3 in the bridge — delivering blazing solos and versatile tones. Both pickups have individual volume and tone controls, along with a three-way toggle switch for excellent tonal control. The Les Paul Special Double Cut Figured comes packaged with a premium gig bag for safe transport.
