Inspired by John Petrucci’s custom-modded Mark IIC+, the JP-2C combo reflects over 30 years of collaboration between Mesa/Boogie and the Dream Theater guitarist. Its 6L6-powered section delivers arena-worthy output, while the 3-channel, 3-voice cascaded-gain preamp handles crystalline cleans, gut-punching crunch, and liquid lead tones with equal mastery. Dual 5-band graphic EQs provide potent tone-shaping control at your feet, while features like a CabClone DI output, built-in power scaling, and slave output make it stage- and studio-ready. Integration with other gear is simple thanks to a buffered tube FX loop and MIDI switching. The JP-2C also features fixed bias for maintenance-free performance and lush per-channel spring reverb. Designed by legendary amp designer Randall Smith and hand-built in Petaluma, California, the JP-2C combo is a next-generation iteration of one of the most esteemed modern guitar amplifiers.
A hard-rocking history
Sadek Music presents the Mesa/Boogie JP-2C – hard-rocking history, modern performance.
Born in the late 1970s, the original Mesa/Boogie Mark I redefined modern rock guitar tone. The Mark IIC+, released in the following decade, is widely regarded as the apex of this legendary series and has remained at the heart of John Petrucci’s sound throughout his decades-long career with Dream Theater.
The JP-2C combo delivers the same explosive performance as its ’80s-era predecessor, along with Petrucci-certified tweaks that shape the guitarist’s most coveted tones. Countless Mark IIC+ enthusiasts are already impressed, and the JP-2C empowers modern players to harness the expressive performance, powerful tone, and forward-thinking features of a rare and highly sought-after classic.
Equipped for sonic versatility
The original Mark IIC+ amps are renowned for their distinctive high-gain sound and their high-headroom cleans alike. Both of those tones are very much on display in the Mesa/Boogie JP-2C. But the amp's three independent channels and three voicing modes let you dial in any sonic texture, from mild crunch to over-the-top cacophony, from warm and round to aggressive and cutting. Furthermore, dual 5-band equalizers enable you to further sculpt your tone to taste. And even with all of this control, the layout is done to make pulling up your favorite sounds intuitive and fast.
Amp adjusts to your needs
The original Mark IIC+ amps were just the springboard for John Petrucci when designing the JP-2C. John also included features like a CabClone speaker-emulated line output, 60- and 100-watt operation, and MIDI programmability to make the amplifier even more versatile and an excellent tool for the recording and touring guitarist. The amplifier's dual 5-band equalizers are footswitchable, enabling you to get three distinct sounds for each channel at the tap of a toe. Finally, the included footswitch also controls the amp's spring reverb, channel switching, and much more.
