This wood is hand selected by John Good and was previously reserved for exotic face material. But now DW is offering you this beautiful wood in their sonically versatile and visually stunning 100% Mahogany Lacquer shells. Mahogany Lacquer offers a punchy, warm tonality with a lot of resonance. And it doesn't sacrifice the high-end bite you need to cut through. All of these attributes make Mahogany Lacquer a great fit for the construction of snares, toms, and bass drums. You'll get ample crack and a round, full sound. Drummers will swear by Mahogany Lacquer construction when they hear how well it can do pretty much anything.

SSC shell optimization for each drum size

John Good and DW have introduced a new Renaissance in drum shell technology. Each of its grain orientation types (VLT, HVLT, VLX, and X) can have a dramatic effect on pitch. And fortunately, DW's Specialized Shell Configuration (SSC) simplifies things for the customer, selecting the best type of shell construction for each tom, kick, and snare in the DW Collector's Series Exotic shell pack. Drummers were impressed with what an impact this had on the entire kit: the snare and high toms had excellent cut and acoustic projection, floor toms had a powerful rumble, and the bass drum sounded downright thunderous in the right tuning range.
